The Wider Curriculum

The boys’ educational experience is enriched by a wide-range of quality non-academic curricula opportunities and the sports provision is second to none. Boys benefit from excellent coaching and participate in a busy programme of fixtures, usually out-performing much larger schools. Sports played include rugby, football, cricket, cross country running, hockey, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and athletics.
A varied and interesting mix of clubs introduces the children to a wide range of experiences. Boys are able to learn additional sports such as Tri-Golf and Judo whilst Arts clubs include Djembe African Drumming, led by a Ghanaian specialist, and performances using Indonesian shadow puppets made by the children. In Design and Technology pupils are introduced to skills such as soldering, using hand tools and creating electrical circuits. Boys are also encouraged to take part in debating and public speaking, whilst community action is promoted through groups like the Environmental Club.
The school organises an impressive range of visits, including residential trips to the World War I trenches, a skiing trip and sports tours. Themed weeks, such as Arts Week, stimulate the senses through imaginative activities whilst the whole school can participate in activities such as beach art at West Wittering and bush craft in local woodland.
