A Message from the Headmaster, Mr Patrick Wenham

Haslemere Preparatory School is special. I realised this during my very first visit to the school. As a Head, teacher trainer, schools' inspector and father, I have visited many schools. Glossy brochures and impressive facilities are no substitute for what really matters in education: a firm commitment to knowing, nurturing and challenging the individual in order to encourage them to love learning and meet their full potential.

With small class sizes and a dedicated staff, the individual is known at Haslemere Preparatory School. A range of fantastic opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, are available to children. We aim to educate the whole child ensuring boys leave the school as rounded, interesting people armed with the skills necessary to make the most of their senior schools and later life.

A wealth of current educational research points to the fact that boys are being out-performed by girls in virtually every area of education. Boys learn differently to girls and can fail to fulfil their potential in mixed classes. A range of abilities is catered for. Children who find learning difficult are given additional support free of charge. The scholarship boards are testament to the school’s rich academic heritage.

With an increasing squeeze on family incomes, our low fees represent good value for money.

More important than anything else at H.P.S is the sense that the adults within the community have one over-riding aim: to do their very best to provide the very best for the children. A fun, caring, happy family ethos pervades this school. Don’t take my word for it. Come and see for yourself.
